Pierce 16, Santa Barbara 7--Joe Arnold hit a three-run home run and drove in four runs as host Pierce (10-9, 3-3) handed Santa Barbara its first loss in five WSC games. Joe Cascione had two hits and drove in three runs and Carl McFadden added three hits for Pierce.

Ventura 7, Santa Monica 6--Three Ventura pitchers surrendered three runs on three hits and four walks in the ninth inning as visiting Santa Monica rallied from a 7-3 deficit to pull to within 7-6 with two out in a WSC game. The threat ended when Brian Dennis grounded out.

Harbor 2, Mission 1--Nino Romo allowed only six hits but took the loss for visiting Mission (10-11, 2-2) in a Southern California Athletic Conference game against defending state champion Harbor (13-5, 3-0).

Cal State Northridge d. George Mason, 15-11, 15-12, 9-15, 15-3--Neil Coffman and Coley Kyman each had 22 kills and 10 digs to lead the Matadors (12-4) in a nonconference match at home.
