President Bush’s Successful War

It seems that most Americans are feeling unusually proud and patriotic these days. While it makes me feel good to see so many enthusiastic people, I will reserve my enthusiasm until our troops return from the Gulf and I see solutions to the savings-and-loan crisis, the coming bank crisis, the plight of homeless people, the growing drug problem, the decline in education, and, last but not least, the budget deficit.
The Administration has proven that it can mobilize vast resources to resolve a problem. I hope the Administration will use the same zeal to find solutions to our domestic problems. After all, shouldn’t charity begin at home?
