Paul S. Mirabito, 75, a former chairman of Burroughs Corp. He became Burroughs president and chief operating officer in 1973 and chairman in 1978, retiring in 1980. Burroughs merged with Sperry Corp. in 1986 to form Unisys Corp. Mirabito came to Detroit-based Burroughs in 1952 as assistant controller. He headed the company’s defense group from 1955-62 and negotiated its military and space program contracts, including those for the Gemini space project of NASA and the Atlas Missile Guidance System. Before joining Control Instrument Co., later a Burroughs subsidiary, in 1942, he had worked for the New York controller’s office and the Haskins & Sells accounting firm. In North Palm Beach, Fla., on March 6 of cancer.
