* Humberto Luna’s wacky 6-11 a.m. show on KTNQ with its stable of “Lunatico” characters was the first informal “Morning Zoo” type program in Spanish.
* Veteran sportscaster Jaime Jarrin, known as KWKW’s “Spanish Voice of the Dodgers”regarded as the premier Spanish sports announcer in the country, was the first American Latino to win a Golden Mike award. He is also vice president of news and sports for KWKW’s parent company.
* KLVE’s morning man (6-10 a.m.) Pepe Barretto, a former news reporter, is low-key and straightforward.
* Martha Shalhoub is one of the few women in Spanish radio. In addition to her daily 2-6 p.m. show on KLVE, she has a weekly syndicated program on which she interviews Latino performers.
* Jorge Jarrin can be heard broadcasting hourly traffic reports in English (on KABC) and Spanish (KSKQ AM and FM). The son of Jaime Jarrin, he is one of the first to be heard on radio in both languages.
