Author Dominick Dunne had an inconvenient surprise when he learned Betsy Bloomingdale was a fellow guest at Irving Lazar’s Oscar party. Dunne’s last novel, “An Inconvenient Woman,” is widely thought to be based on Alfred and Betsy Bloomingdale’s marriage and the late Alfred Bloomingdale’s relationship with Vicky Morgan, who was slain in 1983.
When Dunne heard Betsy Bloomingdale was there, his immediate reaction was, “What! She is? I guess I’ll hide out on the other side of the room.”
