A Yen for Art: Catering to a growing cadre of Japanese buyers, Sotheby’s on Monday became the first Western auction house publicly to sell a collection of Japanese woodblock prints in Japan. About 400 collectors spent a total of 520 million yen ($3.82 million), most of it chasing part of the Walter Amstutz collection of prints, considered one of the finest in the West. Amstutz is a Swiss art collector. The collection failed to fetch the expected $4.9 million.
