GM’s Stempel Is Third in Big Three Pay: General Motors Corp. Chairman Robert C. Stempel received $1.1 million in total compensation last year, the smallest of any of the Big Three chairmen, according to a proxy filed by the nation’s largest corporation. Stempel took a 48% pay cut from the previous year’s $2.1 million. He made less than either Ford Motor Co. Chairman Harold Poling, who got $1.2 million for 1990, or Chrysler Corp. Chairman Lee A. Iacocca, who earned $4.6 million.
