Sport: Track and field
Events: Triple jump, long jump, high jump
Class: Senior
During a season in which Canyon lacks depth in the field events, Green’s presence is a comfort to Coach Mike Sayward. “We have no depth whatsoever in the field events,” Sayward said. “We’d have a big gaping hole in the track team if she wasn’t there.” Tuesday, Green ensured that Canyon continued its dual-meet winning streak, which dates back to 1988, by winning the triple jump in 34 feet 7 1/2 inches, the long jump in 16-9 1/2 and finishing second in the high jump (4-10) in a double dual meet with El Modena and Villa Park. The 13 points aided the 85-42 victory over Villa Park but were crucial in Canyon’s 64-63 victory over El Modena. She won the three events in a dual meet with Foothill Thursday, giving her 41 of a possible 45 points for the week.
Other top performers:
Danielle Brown, who jumped 39-5 1/2 to win the triple jump for Sunny Hills at the Arcadia Invitational.
Lisa Dacquisto, the Ocean View leadoff batter who had eight hits in 11 at-bats for Ocean View in two Sunset League victories.
Rae Rice, who pitched a no-hitter and struck out 11 in Fountain Valley’s 1-0 victory over Westminster and a two-hitter in a 6-0 victory over Los Alamitos in the championship game of the Lancer Division of the Canyon Tournament.
Shelley Taylor, who won the 1,600 in 4:53.00 at the Arcadia Invitational for Edison. It was Taylor’s fastest time ever in the 1,600.
