BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Pulled Muscle Keeps Joyner Day to Day
- Share via
First baseman Wally Joyner sat out Wednesday’s game after aggravating a pulled right groin muscle Tuesday in the Angels’ 8-5 loss to the Athletics. His status is day to day. . . . Right-hander Scott Lewis plans to take a different approach in his second start than he did last Saturday against the Minnesota Twins, when he was unable to hold an 8-2 lead. He lasted 4 1/3 innings.
“I did kind of look at the score and say, ‘I’ve got a big lead. I’m just going to go after them,’ instead of just taking it one pitch at a time,” Lewis said. “It was a big lesson. I just won’t get ahead of myself this time.”
