Camarillo 12, Simi Valley 8--Corey Tucker hit a pair of solo home runs and Robert Sanchez added a grand slam as Camarillo won its fourth consecutive Marmonte League game and handed Simi Valley (16-3, 7-1) its first league defeat.
Camarillo (11-5, 4-4) staked flu-stricken Danny Haas (7-2) to a 9-2 lead after three innings and the senior made it stand up despite allowing 12 hits. Camarillo got 10 hits and seven runs batted in from its Nos. 6-9 hitters, including three hits each by Ralph Guillen and David Harbour.
Thousand Oaks 8, Westlake 8 (12 innings)--Ryan Kritscher went four for five for Thousand Oaks (12-5-1, 5-2-1) and Brian Sturges and Trent Martin each had two hits in a Marmonte League game called for darkness. Rob Neal had three hits for Westlake (8-9-1, 3-4-1). Thousand Oaks’ Jeff Naster and Westlake’s Donnie Hill both came on in relief in the fifth inning and allowed only two runs each over seven innings.
Royal 5, Newbury Park 1--Jason Ignacio struck out five, walked one and scattered five hits to lead visiting Royal in the Marmonte League game. Curtis Anding had three hits for Royal (11-4, 3-4).
Robert Fick hit a home run for Newbury Park (6-10, 2-5).
Quartz Hill 5, Canyon 3--Quartz Hill broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run third inning in the Golden League game at Canyon. Chad Goodwin homered for Quartz Hill.
Hueneme 9, Buena 7--Chris Baker had three hits and Casey Bolen, Jim Pettit, Mike Ortega and Jess Olivares each added two hits for Hueneme (12-5, 5-3) in the Channel League game. Anthony Morales had three hits for Buena.
Burroughs (Burbank) 2, Alhambra 0--Bobby Sherwood slugged a two-run homer in the first and Mike Rossiter (3-2) made it stand up in the Foothill League game. Rossiter went the distance, allowing four hits and striking out eight.
Crescenta Valley 22, Hoover 7--Ernie Diaz was three for four, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs for Crescenta Valley in a Pacific League game.
Moorpark 10, Oak Park 5--Chuong Ho (3-3) had 10 strikeouts ad Eddie Romero had two hits and scored two runs for Moorpark in the Tri-Valley League game.
Rio Mesa 9, San Marcos 1--Jon McMullen drove in four runs, two on his fourth home run, and Mike Mitchell was two for three with a double for Rio Mesa (13-3, 7-1) in a Channel League game.
Palmdale 2, Burroughs (Ridgecrest) 0--Joe Garcia (5-2) tossed a four-hitter to lead host Palmdale (9-5, 6-3) to the Golden League win.
Montclair Prep 9, Marshall 0--Brent Polacheck, Jared Baumblatt and Jeff Shapiro each had three hits to lead the Mounties (12-3, 5-0) in an Alpha League game. Harvard 14, Bell-Jeff 3--Jono Pivo drove in three runs on a double and a home run for host Harvard (5-10, 2-2) in a San Fernando League game.
Buckley 6, Brentwood 2--Nick Sasano drove in two runs for Buckley (7-7, 2-2) in the Delphic League game.
SOFTBALL
Crescenta Valley 3, Sacred Heart 0--Stacy Atwood threw a one-hitter and struck out 14 in a nonleague game as Crescenta Valley (19-1) extended its winning streak to 17.
Santa Paula 4, Nordhoff 0--Nora Cardenas hit a three-run home run in a four-run fifth inning to lift host Santa Paula (7-6, 7-0) to a Frontier League victory.
