CLIPBOARD : April Sales and Use Tax Revenue
- Share via
In April, the most recent month for which information is available, Orange County cities received a collective $17.56 million in sales and use tax rebates from the state. Despite the current recession, this total was just 1.7% less than the April, 1990 total.
The largest amount received by any city was the $2.2 million rebated to Anaheim; the smallest, $13,000 to Villa Park. However, Anaheim’s total is 4.4% less than the city received last April, whereas Villa Park’s total is 479% more.
Each month city and county governments and other government organizations receive payments from the state in anticipation of actual sales tax revenue. In the fourth month, they receive a cleanup payment--the difference between actual revenue and the amounts previously received--plus the first advance payment for the next quarter. The amounts listed here are the second advance payments for the first quarter of 1991.
