Stokes Helps U.S. to Basketball Win

Ed Stokes, a former St. Bernard High standout center who now plays for the University of Arizona, scored nine points in 15 minutes Wednesday, helping the U.S. to a 97-72 victory over Canada in the World Junior Men’s Basketball Championships in Edmonton, Canada.
Wesley Person (Auburn) and Jamal Faulkner (Arizona State) led the U.S. with 12 points each, Khalid Reeves (Arizona) and Antonio Lang added 11 and Lance Miller had 10.
The U.S., which improved to 5-0, plays Brazil tonight.
