Whittle Ends Talks With Forstmann: Whittle Communications has broken off talks with Forstmann Little & Co. over selling a one-third interest in the media company for $350 million. Knoxville, Tenn-based Whittle and the New York-based investment firm said in a statement that they agreed to end their talks because they could not come to terms. The decision deprives Whittle of a sizeable amount of cash it had said would help expansion and puts a crimp in plans by its 50% owner, Time Warner Inc., to reduce its stake in the company.
