Re the subject of old farts (“You Can Say That Again,” by Harry Shearer, Oct. 6): Old farts are made, not born. Jimmy Connors served a long apprenticeship, and it would seem that Ted Koppel is well on his way. Then there’s always Harry Shearer himself. And me.
