Brazil’s Forest Stung: Hundreds of wildcat miners in Brazil’s Amazon have invaded an Indian reserve that rock star Sting has raised $1 million to protect, Brazil’s O Globo newspaper reported over the weekend. Caiapo Indian chief Raoni told the Brazilian Environment Institute IBAMA that 500 miners invaded Mecranho-ti, a 12.3-million-acre reserve. Raoni became known when he went on tour with Sting to seek support for the rain forest.
