Civil Rights and Quotas

Wait. Let me get this straight--President Bush plans on accepting a “compromise” civil rights bill that includes a cap on damages awarded to women who are victims of discrimination, although there is no cap for victims of racial discrimination.
It is cruelly ironic that a bill which claims to address discrimination discriminates in its own text. Sen. Edward Kennedy states that while he regrets the cap, it “ . . . is still a substantial new remedy for large numbers of women who have no realistic remedy today.” Not good enough. I have had it with being compromised.
