Duarte : RV Dealership Approved

The Redevelopment Agency Tuesday approved a $4.6-million property sale agreement for a recreational vehicle dealership expected to become one of the city’s largest sources of sales tax revenue.
La Mesa RV Centers Inc. will purchase a 7.84-acre parcel on Central Avenue between Buena Vista Street and Bradbury Avenue currently owned by the Duarte Redevelopment Agency. The firm, which has similar dealerships in Yuma, Ariz., and La Mesa, is expected to generate more than $250,000 annually in sales tax from the Duarte location.
The agreement provides an incentive plan through which the redevelopment agency will rebate a portion of any annual sales tax in excess of $250,000 until the purchase price has been reduced by about one-half.
City officials estimated that the dealership will open in about two years.
