La Habra opens the Southern Section 3-A girls’ volleyball playoffs today with hopes of a second consecutive title.
The Highlanders, who lost the section final but came back to win the State Division II title in 1989, also are aiming for their third consecutive state championship. Only three teams have won three state volleyball titles--Mira Costa (Division I in 1982, ‘85, ‘89), Rim of the World (Division II, 1981-83) and Francis Parker (Division III, 1986-88).
