HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER ROUNDUP : Rally Lifts Notre Dame to 3rd Place

The Notre Dame High boys’ soccer team assured itself of a playoff berth with a 2-1 victory over visiting Loyola after rallying from a 1-0 halftime deficit. The Knights scored on goals by Camilo Padilla and Steve Lee in the Mission League regular-season finale.
Notre Dame (14-8-2, 9-4-1 in league play) finished in third place, Loyola (6-3-4) fourth.
In other boys’ matches:
Calabasas 5, Santa Clara 1--Bhret Haessig scored two goals for the Coyotes, who secured a second-place finish in the Frontier League. Calabasas (12-4-2, 6-1-1) is ranked third in Southern Section Division V.
Burroughs 1, Burbank 0--Jesus Diaz scored in the second half of the Foothill League match for the host Indians (18-2-2, 11-0-1). Burroughs is the league champion and Burbank (4-5-3 in league) finished second.
In girls’ matches:
Santa Clara 2, Calabasas 0--The visiting Saints (7-1 in league play) won the Frontier League championship in a first-place showdown with the Coyotes (12-8, 6-2).
Chaminade 1, Alemany 1 (2 OTs)--Eagle Megan Mitchell gave host Chaminade a 1-0 halftime lead, but Indian Tammy Alderman tied the score with 14 minutes to play, and the Eagles and the Indians finished tied for second place in the Mission League with 7-2-3 records.
