COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Complete Effort Lifts CSUN to Softball Sweep

A strong pitching performance by Amy Windmiller in the first game and an explosive batting performance by Scia Maumausolo in the second powered Cal State Northridge to a softball doubleheader sweep of visiting Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday.
Windmiller (2-1) allowed three hits and struck out 13 to win the eight-inning opener, 2-1. CSUN (5-1) had 11 hits and scored the winning run on consecutive singles by Vicky Rios, Jen Fleming, Beth Calcante and Tamara Ivie.
In the 6-2 second-game win, Maumausolo hit a three-run home run in support of Jennifer Richardson (1-0).
In another softball game:
Moorpark 15, Kings River 0--Andrea Soto was four for four with five runs batted in to lead the Raiders in a consolation-bracket game of the Long Beach tournament. The Raiders (1-2) later were eliminated by Taft, 1-0.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Valley 73, Canyons 51--The Monarchs (27-4, 13-1) clinched the Western State Conference South Division championship after outscoring the Cougars, 35-26, in the first half and opening the second half with an 8-0 run. Rosa Mendez led Valley with 14 points and Amy Horst had 10 rebounds.
Ventura 49, Santa Barbara 28 City--Ventura (22-4, 14-0) held host Santa Barbara without a field goal the first 13 1/2 minutes of the second half of the WSC North Division game. The teams were tied, 17-17, at halftime.
Bakersfield 68, Pierce 56--Shani Samuel scored 27 points and Yolanda Davidian added 16 points and 12 rebounds for the host Brahmas in a WSC South Division game.
Antelope Valley 75, San Bernardino Valley 46--Bernice Atkinson had 21 points and 19 rebounds, and Sasha Garrison added 22 points and 14 rebounds for host Antelope Valley (15-11, 7-3) in a Foothill Conference game.
Cal State Fullerton 74, Cal State Northridge 63--Michelle Esparza scored 18 points for the Matadors (4-17) in a nonconference game.
UC San Diego 94, Cal Lutheran 62--Nicole Albert had 25 points for Cal Lutheran (8-13), which was outrebounded, 57-41 in the nonconference game.
Biola 68, The Master’s 64--Audrey McMurray scored a team-high 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but host Master’s fell in an NAIA District 3 game.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Master’s 77, Southern California College 56--Emeka Okenwa had 17 points and 16 rebounds for the host Mustangs (15-9) in a NAIA District 3 game.
Cal Lutheran 61, Whittier 57--Jared Byrne had 14 points and Damon Ridley added 13 for host Cal Lutheran (17-4, 9-1) in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
Antelope Valley 92, Barstow 76--Darnell Cherry had 19 points and eight rebounds, and Jason Grimes added 18 points and nine rebounds for the Marauders (21-8, 10-4) in a Foothill Conference game.
Cuesta 61, Oxnard 54--In a WSC North Division game, Tony Ziuraitis (12 points), Andy Saint (11) and Lance Fay (11) led Oxnard.
