In the American River tournament:
Saddleback 11, Sierra 3--Saddleback (7-1) scored eight runs in the fifth inning in the championship game. Ted Wilkes and Wade Jackson each had two-run singles in the inning.
Scott Holty had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in a run and Bo Haley had two hits and two RBIs for Saddleback. Steve Lee (2-0) pitched four innings for the victory.
Saddleback beat Conta Costa, 8-5, earlier Sunday.
In the Rancho Santiago Lidlifter softball tournament:
Palomar 8, Cypress 0--Cypress won three games Sunday, including a 2-1 defeat of Palomar, before losing in the title game.
The Chargers (6-2) started the morning by beating Mt. San Antonio, 2-1, and followed that with a 5-2 victory over Sacramento City.
Kerry Moloney had a two-run home run to break a 2-2 tie in the fifth for Cypress against Sacramento City, the defending state champions.
Cypress then beat Palomar, 2-1, on a two-run home run by Susan Dugas to force a second game. But Palomar turned to Kim Ward, the state’s pitcher of the year last season, and she threw a no-hitter to beat Cypress, 8-0.
