Intel-BellSouth to Offer Linkup: Intel Corp. and BellSouth Corp. announced an alliance aimed at marketing a system to allow personal computer users to link up with a new wireless communications network. Under preliminary agreements signed by the two companies and two partners, Intel will begin marketing a wireless modem package in the second half of the year for users of Intel-based personal computers. The package will allow users to send and receive electronic mail and other data over a network being built by RAM Mobile Data, which is 49% owned by Atlanta-based BellSouth. The other partner in the alliance is Swedish-based Ericsson G.E., which makes the Mobidem computer modem that will be used in the package.
