Largemouth Bass Moving Near Shore at Lake Perris
- Share via
A good season for largemouth bass is building at Lake Perris in Riverside County.
Marina manager Charlie Lamkin says warmer water has them cruising the shallows in their pre-spawn mode; they can be caught from shore on nightcrawlers. Most are running from 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 pounds and longer than the minimum 15 inches. Mid-morning to early afternoon is best.
The team of Larry Hopper, Tustin, and Jim Emmett, Huntington Beach, won an American Bass Assn. tournament and $1,320 last week with a four-fish limit totaling 11.3 pounds. Mark Chadeayne caught the largest fish, 7.05 pounds, but missed out on the $350 jackpot because he had not invested $10 to enter.
