Northwest Offers Discount Fares: Northwest Airlines announced discounts on its super-saver fares of up to 40% for spring travel within the United States and to Cancun, Mexico. The tickets must be purchased by Thursday, and travel to Alaska and Hawaii is excluded. Northwest at the same time raised its normal 14-day advance purchase fares by 5%, effective immediately. The special fares, good through June 30, require a Saturday night stay and are non-refundable. Northwest said the discount means passengers can travel round trip between New York and Los Angeles for as little as $338, compared to $557 after the offer expires.
