COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Filbeck Pitches Rancho Santiago Past Riverside

Ryan Filbeck pitched a five-hitter as Rancho Santiago opened Orange Empire Conference play Monday with a 7-1 victory over host Riverside.
Filbeck (3-0) struck out six for Rancho Santiago (10-1, 1-0). Tony Truel had two doubles and two runs batted in for the Dons, who scored four times in the ninth.
In nonconference softball:
Fullerton 1, Moorpark 0--Cindi Escodebo drove in the game’s only run with a double in the bottom of the fifth inning for Fullerton (6-1-1).
Rancho Santiago 6, San Bernardino Valley 1--Robin Northcraft had a home run in the fifth for host Rancho Santiago (4-6). Lee Ann Morretino had a squeeze bunt that drove in a run and Amy Lewis and Teresa Pixler had RBI singles in the inning for Rancho Santiago. Jamie Parker (3-6) pitched a three-hitter.
Saddleback 9, Grossmont 0--Shelley Byrd had two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs for visiting Saddleback (10-1).
Pasadena 1, Orange Coast 0--Host OCC (4-3) loaded the bases in the seventh with two outs but failed to score. April Crosby singled and pinch-hitter Dru Obade singled with two outs. Lianne Lopez walked to load the bases, but Nicole Shammas flied out to end the game. Pasadena is 2-4.
