Former Crespi High football Coach Bill Redell will be named to fill the vacant position at St. Francis on Wednesday, a source at St. Francis said Monday.
Redell, 50, will replace Andy Boynton, who was fired in December after leading the Golden Knights to a 3-6 record.
Indications are that Redell, who works for an insurance company, will be a walk-on coach.
Redell led the Celts to the Big Five Conference title in 1986. He coached at Crespi in 1982, then took a job as an assistant for the USFL’s Boston Breakers.
He returned to coach Crespi from 1985-88, then left to follow the career of his son, Ron, who played football at Stanford.
