Q of L Forums Serve Public

On Feb. 23, you published a letter from Doug Johnson attacking me and my attempts to televise forums of the Citizen’s Q of L Action Alliance as “political chicanery.”
I would like to offer a few facts in response to his egregious piece of public disinformation:
The Q of L Alliance never cost the taxpayers a dime. The Q of L citizen forums are prepared, staffed and taped by citizen volunteers at no expense to the taxpayers. Its entirely modest funding has been provided from personal funds of members (including myself).
Airing forums on TOTV would cost few if any incremental dollars, since it would only involve playing a tape.
All the programming currently shown is produced at significant expense to the taxpayer. Most programming is devoted to live or taped broadcasts of public meetings of the city and its commissions. The remainder of programming currently includes a number of professionally produced (and taxpayer funded) programs which publicize city activities, individual elected officials and senior city staff.
The Citizen’s Q of L Action Alliance is the first and only open forum in the city with a track record. Its chosen mission is to provide a place for citizens to examine information and opinion on issues they feel to be of concern for the future of our city.
