FHP Buys Anaheim Worker Comp Firm

FOUNTAIN VALLEY — FHP International Corp. said Friday that it has completed a deal to acquire an Anaheim insurance company that specializes in workers’ compensation packages.
The health maintenance organization bought Great States Financial Corp. and its two subsidiaries, Great States Insurance Co. and Skandia Benefit Services Co.
Skandia, which administers workers’ compensation cases, will be renamed Intercare Benefit Administrators Inc. FHP disclosed in a recent corporate filing that it paid about $23 million for Great States, which has 85 employees and $35 million in annual revenue.
