Two men were shot with a pellet gun Friday afternoon while working on a sod farm near Rice Avenue and Channel Islands Boulevard in Oxnard, the west county Sheriff’s Department said.
The identities of the men were not released.
One of the men was shot in the ear and the other suffered superficial injuries, said sheriff’s Sgt. Jim Wilburn.
Both men were treated at the scene, said Oxnard Police Officer Rob Robertson.
The shots appeared to come from a residential area at Dickenson Place near El Dorado Avenue at the edge of the field, Wilburn said.
Witnesses told sheriff’s deputies that they saw two youths with a dog fleeing the scene.
A spokesman for the farm would not comment on the incident.
Oxnard police are continuing the investigation.
