White Memorial Medical Center will unveil renovations to its emergency department during an open house Wednesday.
The $2.3-million renovation includes a major-trauma room for emergency care, a relocated tomography machine for diagnosis of internal injuries, built-in X-ray machines and “negative pressure” rooms to reduce the spread of airborne communicable diseases.
The improvements will enable the department, which serves 2,500 patients each month, to admit patients in half the time it did before, said director Dr. Brian Johnston.
The community open house will be from 1 to 5 p.m. The 80-year-old hospital is at 1720 Brooklyn Ave.
