Junior at Sierra Vista Wins $1,000 Scholarship

Gary Johnson, a junior at Sierra Vista High School in the Baldwin Park Unified School District, has won a $1,000 scholarship from the McDonald’s Operators’ Assn. of Southern California.
Johnson entered a writing contest in conjunction with Black History Month. His topic was “How I Plan to Make an Impact on Black History.”
Johnson is commissioner of boys’ athletics at his school.
