MUNICH, Germany — Eckart Witzigmann, one of the best-known chefs in Germany, went on trial Friday on cocaine charges.
Witzigmann, who runs Munich’s Aubergine restaurant, is charged with buying 200 grams of cocaine. Police say they also discovered 6 grams of cocaine during a raid on his home last May.
Aubergine holds the coveted three-star rating in the Michelin guide.
If convicted, the 51-year-old Austrian could lose his license to run the restaurant and could be forced to leave Munich.
