Hacienda Heights Wilson 49, Ventura 29--The Wildcats held standout Ember Brown, who had averaged 30 points in Ventura’s first four playoff games, to only two points in the final three quarters of the Southern Section II-A final at Loyola Marymount.
Brown had 11 points in the first quarter, but Wilson (26-1) focused its defense on her, and controlled the game from then on.
“She’s a good player, but our defense was better,” said Wilson forward Katie Miner, who had a game-high 17 points and seven steals.
Nellie Lew and Erin Massey both scored 12 points for the Wildcats.
Brown, a sophomore guard, finished with a team-high 13 points for Ventura (23-5).
