OUTLOOK
What’s not to like? The Vaqueros, who are ranked ninth in the nation by USA Today, have eight starters back from a team that reached the Southern Section 4-A championship game before losing, 6-5, to West Covina South Hills. To add more fuel to this fire, Noisy transferred from Santiago, where he was a .300 hitter last season. And still more good news, the Vaqueros’ move from the South Coast League to the Sea View, which drops them to 3-A. So the good times should roll at Irvine. Seal, a first-team all-county selection, is the best of the lot. He hit .386 with seven home runs and 28 runs batted in last season. But he has plenty of help. Jones hit .363 and Greinke .313. Louie had 24 RBIs. On the mound, O’Toole was 8-5 and Louie 5-4. They will be the team’s top starters. Seal was 3-0 with two saves. The questions are few. Garcia has to make the transition from third base to shortstop, where he will replace team leader Chad Baker. All in all, the best team in Orange County and Division III. At least for now.
