Life After Gartner: The list of possible successors to NBC News president Michael Gartner is growing. Names in the buzz include Bill Wheatley, NBC’s director of political coverage; NBC News executive vice president Don Browne, who’s taken over day-to-day running of the division; NBC Entertainment president Don Ohlmeyer; NBC News Channel president Bob Horner; NBC reporter and anchor Garrick Utley; CBS News producer Andrew Heyward; former NBC reporter and anchor Linda Ellerbee; CNN executive vice president of news gathering Ed Turner; PBS documentarian Bill Moyers; and PBS co-anchor Jim Lehrer. NBC anchor Tom Brokaw, NBC Sports president Dick Ebersol and NBC Washington bureau chief Tim Russert have said they are not interested in the job.
