Brea-Olinda, Costa Mesa to Be Home for First Round

Southern Section champions Brea-Olinda and Costa Mesa received home games when the State CIF office announced pairings for the Southern California girls’ regional basketball playoffs on Sunday.
Runners-up Capistrano Valley and Rancho Alamitos will hit the road as regional play begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The top-seeded Brea-Olinda Ladycats (28-2), who sewed up their fifth consecutive section title Saturday afternoon with a 75-39 victory over Cerritos Gahr in Division II-AA, will play host to Ventura in a Division II game.
Costa Mesa (27-4) celebrated its second section title in the 1990s by ousting Rancho Alamitos in Division III-A, 72-55. In their Division III opener, the second-seeded Mustangs will play host to Mission Hills Alemany, which lost to top-seeded Inglewood Morningside in the Division III-AA championship. Rancho Alamitos (25-5) will play at Morningside.
Division I-AA runner-up Capistrano Valley (24-4) is seeded seventh in the Division I draw after losing the championship to Lynwood. Capistrano Valley travels to Los Angeles Crenshaw (23-2), the City 4-A champion.
