PREP ROUNDUP : Laguna Beach Edges Dana Hills in Boys’ Tennis

Julian Zajfen and Elliott West swept their sets at Nos. 1 and 2 singles to lead host Laguna Beach to a 10-8 victory over Dana Hills in a nonleague boys’ tennis match Monday.
Zajfen swept, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, and West won, 6-1, 6-3, 6-0, to lead the Artists (1-1), who won eight of nine singles sets. Dana Hills is 1-2.
In other nonleague matches:
Esperanza 12, Servite 6--Mike Burgess swept at No. 1 singles for host Esperanza (4-0).
Fullerton 11, La Quinta 7--Russell Fyne swept at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1, for host Fullerton (1-3).
Irvine 12, Estancia 6--Frank Kim and Michael Kao swept at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-0, 6-1, for visiting Irvine (3-0).
Savanna 12, Tustin 6--The doubles team of Truong Le and Nam Trihn swept its sets, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to remain unbeaten for visiting Savanna (2-2).
In nonleague golf:
Santa Margarita 197, University 218--Ryan McLaughlin and Mark Foster each shot two-over par 38 at Rancho San Joaquin for Santa Margarita.
El Dorado 208, La Mirada 228--Ryan Chavez shot a two-over 37 for El Dorado (2-1) at La Mirada Country Club.
In the Corona softball tournament:
El Toro 8, Fontana A.B. Miller 0--Misty Lauby (1-1) pitched a one-hitter and Kelli Bruce had four hits for El Toro (2-1) in the first round.
El Dorado 12, Riverside J.W. North 2 (5, mercy)--Traci Vargas had three hits, two runs scored and one RBI for host El Dorado (2-0).
In the consolation championship of the Fullerton Tournament:
Villa Park 10, Sonora 0 (5 innings, mercy rule)--Julie Riley, Brandee McArthur and Tammy Kincaid had two hits for host Villa Park (4-1).
In nonleague softball:
Dana Hills 6, Santa Margarita 1--Beccy Gordon had a no-hitter through 6 2/3 innings before settling for a two-hitter for Dana Hills (2-0).
Fountain Valley 3, Laguna Hills 0--Danielle Rodriguez pitched a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts for visiting Fountain Valley (2-1).
Savanna 12, Buena Park 12 (8, darkness)--Sara Works had three hits, three runs scored, and four RBIs for visiting Savanna (0-1-1).
In nonleague boys’ swimming:
Villa Park 102, Sunny Hills 68--Matt Cornue qualified for the Southern Section meet in the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle for host Villa Park (1-0). In nonleague girls’ swimming:
Villa Park 108, Sunny Hills 62--Jennifer Blasi, Catherine Pharris and Michelle Morris each won two events for host Villa Park (1-0).
In nonleague boys’ volleyball:
Tustin 3, El Modena 2--Josh Rasmussen had 25 kills for visiting Tustin (1-0), which won, 15-11, 15-8, 11-15, 16-18, 15-11.
