Pressman, Orange Lutheran’s first-year coach, returns to coaching after a six-year absence. During Pressman’s tenure at Van Nuys Montclair Prep from 1975-87, the Mounties won four Southern Section championships. Orange Lutheran has advanced to the championship game three times, but has yet to win a title. The Lancers’ last visit to the final came in 1991, when they lost to Montclair Prep, 12-2. Orange Lutheran’s season ended abruptly last year with a 1-0 loss to Oak Park in the first round of the playoffs, but the only starters returning from last season’s squad are Courvoisier and Huss. “It’s just a down time in the program right now,” Pressman said. “But we’ll come back around.” One of Pressman’s problems is that he can’t play Courvoisier everywhere. “He’s our top pitcher, shortstop, and best catcher,” Pressman said. “When I came to practice the first day and asked the kids who was the catcher, nobody raised their hand.” Courvoisier hit .310 last season, and Pressman said he has Division I college potential. Huss, the team’s fastest player, hit .429 last season. Maddock, who started in the 1991 final against Montclair Prep, returns as the No. 2 pitcher.
