Thomas E. Holden was sworn in Tuesday night as Oxnard’s newest councilman, two weeks after he defeated 12 other candidates in a race for one council seat.
Holden, 38, an optometrist and third-generation Oxnard businessman, thanked more than 50 relatives and supporters present to watch him take over the seat vacated by Manuel Lopez, who was elected mayor in November.
“It’s time to get to work,” Holden said. “We need to work as a team and deal with the issues in front of us.”
