PREP ROUNDUP : Troy’s Schmidt Beats Magnolia With No-Hitter

Heidi Schmidt pitched a no-hitter, striking out 10, to lead host Troy to a 3-0 victory over Magnolia in a nonleague softball game Tuesday.
Troy scored three runs in the second inning and improved to 7-3. Schmidt is 4-1.

Bolsa Grande 5, Santa Ana Valley 2--Jill Tantardini pitched a two-hitter for Bolsa Grande (3-1).
Costa Mesa 6, Brethren Christian 5--Jenny Pryer had two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI for host Costa Mesa (5-0).
El Dorado 13, Valencia 0--Jennifer Terrell had three hits, four runs scored and two stolen bases for visiting El Dorado (5-2).
El Modena 2, Dana Hills 0--Alexis Beckman pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts for El Modena (4-1).
Fullerton 4, Esperanza 1--Amy Freilich scored twice and stole three bases for Fullerton (4-3).
Kennedy 7-1, Cypress 0-0--Lana Jimenez had two hits, three runs scored, one RBI, and three stolen bases in the first game for host Kennedy (5-1). Nicole Paloney and Lisa Pitt each pitched two-hitters in the doubleheader sweep for Kennedy.
Liberty Christian 18, Orange Lutheran 3--Becky Rendon had three hits and scored four runs for Liberty Christian (3-1), which scored 13 times in the fourth inning.
Orange 4, Savanna 0--Chris Puccio had three hits and two runs scored and Sheryl Anderson pitched a one-hitter for host Orange (3-2).
Pacifica 2, Los Alamitos 0--Kristen Varagne pitched a two-hitter to lead Pacifica (3-3).
Sonora 5, Whittier Christian 2--Holly Kent hit a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the sixth and finished with four RBIs for host Sonora (4-3).

Rancho Alamitos 2, Foothill 1 (10)--Destiny Mollison scattered seven hits, striking out 17, for the Vaqueros (3-2), who advance to the semifinals to play Marina, a 2-0 winner over Tustin.
Laguna Hills 2, Ocean View 0--Amber Journell had two RBIs and Therese Lee earned the victory for Laguna Hills (5-1), which will play Irvine, a 4-3 winner over Fountain Valley, in the semifinals.
El Toro 4, Santa Margarita 0--Misty Lauby threw a one-hitter and struck out seven for El Toro (6-3) in a consolation game.

Capistrano Valley 107, Trabuco Hills 55--Cathy Carone won the 100 butterfly and the 100 backstroke and Tracey McCalley won the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle for Capistrano Valley (1-1).
San Clemente 90, Villa Park 80--Catherine Pharris won the 50 and 100 freestyles and qualified for the Division I Southern Section meet for Villa Park.

Fountain Valley 9, Servite 9 (Fountain Valley wins on games, 79-70)--Eddie Weiss swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, for Fountain Valley (2-3, 2-1).
Ocean View 11, Edison 7--Jacob Pietowski swept at No. 1 singles for Ocean View (5-3, 3-0), 6-0, 6-3, 6-0.

Canyon 12, Fullerton 6--Heath Kula and Jerry Liao swept their doubles sets, 6-4, 6-0, 6-3 to improve to 12-3 for host Canyon (3-3).
Sunny Hills 12, Esperanza 6--David Robbins won three singles matches for Sunny Hills (5-0). Eric Chang and Frank Hsu teamed up for three doubles victories for Esperanza (6-1).
Trabuco Hills 16, El Dorado 2--Bryan Johnson swept in singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, for Trabuco Hills (5-1). El Dorado is 2-4.
