Military Base Closings
Politically, I am left of center. I voted for Bill Clinton because I think it is time for government to stimulate the economy.
But reactions to further military base shutdowns trouble me. I grieve for anyone out of a job. I have a lot experience in that area. However, I would wager that most military members and civilians who work in that arena are more conservative than liberal and resent government waste, welfare, make-work and handouts.
Yet, despite base closings that came from the Pentagon, not some liberal think tank, those affected want the rest of us to spend our tax dollars to keep open outdated installations simply to fund their continued employment. What logic?
