Man Hit by Car Dies of Injuries

SANTA ANA — A 27-year-old Santa Ana man who was hit by a car over the weekend while trying to run across Bristol Street died Monday at UC Irvine Medical Center, authorities said.
Reynaldo Altamirano suffered major injuries to his head and chest at 4:30 p.m. Saturday when he tried to dash across the 1000 block of Bristol Street just north of the intersection of McFadden Avenue, said a Santa Ana Police Department spokesman. Altamirano was not in a crosswalk and was hit by a car traveling southbound in the left-turn pocket.
The driver was not held.
