I am outraged seeing Serb President Slobodan Milosevic wined and dined in Paris (“In Paris, Milosevic Gets VIP Treatment,” March 12) by French President Francois Mitterrand and peace negotiators Lord David Owen and Cyrus Vance. They gave him the status of an honored diplomat while the whole world acknowledges that he is the instigator and mastermind behind the horrendous war, atrocities and forced displacement of millions of people in Croatia and Bosnia.
They should be trying him for war crimes instead of kowtowing to him. Their action only intensified Serbian belief that they and their leader are invincible.
Shame on the Western leaders for such cowardice. Now they are even inviting Serb Gen. Radko Mladic, the butcher of innocent civilians, to attend the negotiations in New York!
