‘Cobra’ Bows to ‘Viper’: Paramount Television Group has won the battle of the dueling “Vipers.” Both Paramount and Stephen J. Cannell Productions had been developing TV series of that title, but Cannell has agreed to rename his “Cobra.” The shows are different conceptually, with Paramount’s 13-episode CBS show based upon the Viper car and Cannell’s first-run syndication series based upon a fictitious character who was to have been named Viper.
