The Region : Cable Station Name Change
The name of the cable television station serving Hacienda Heights, Bassett, Valinda, La Puente, Pico Rivera, Baldwin Park and areas south of West Whittier has been changed to TCI Cablevision of Los Angles County.
One of the nation’s largest cable operators, TCI completed a stock acquisition of United Artists Cable of Los Angeles County, which formerly offered cable service to those areas, in December, 1991. The name change is the last formality in the conversion from United Artists Cable to TCI, TCI General Manager Kurt Taylor said.
He said the name change will not effect service or programming. However, he said, because TCI is a large company, it will be able to offer viewers a greater variety of channels and programming over the next five years as a result of investments in new technology.
