Arcadia : Gun Possession at School
A 17-year-old Arcadia High School senior who has been charged with felony possession of a firearm on school grounds is scheduled to appear in Pasadena Juvenile Court in late April.
Arcadia police arrested the youth last Thursday after students alerted an assistant principal that the boy was carrying a handgun.
“It would appear he took the gun to school with the thought he may use it to intimidate a student he had some difference with,” Police Capt. Dave Hinig said.
The student, who was not identified because of his age, did not fire the gun, Hinig said.
Arcadia High Principal Dorothy Schneider said the boy has been suspended and faces expulsion.
Hinig said the handgun, a Beretta, belongs to the student’s father and was removed without the parents’ knowledge.
The student was released to his parents pending his court appearance.
