Middleton set a school record in winning the 100-meter race with a time of 10.7 seconds, besting his old school record of 10.8. He also won the 400-meter race and anchored the winning 1,600-meter relay team as the Lancers defeated Fullerton High, 77-44.

Other top prep performers:

Su Dang and Brian Asis, Jordan High tennis players. Dang, a freshman, and Asis, a junior, won their three singles matches to lead the Panthers to an 11-7 win over Lakewood High.

Darrin Reintjes, a sophomore pitcher for Bellflower High, pitched a no-hitter and struck out 12 as the Buccaneers defeated Artesia, 10-0. Two errors kept Reintjes--who has not allowed a hit in 12 1/3 innings this season--from a perfect game.
