Republican Party

As former chairman of the Republican National Committee, Richard Bond (“Christian Right Is Wrong About the GOP,” Commentary, March 22) is in a unique position to judge the damage to the Republican Party the Christian right is inflicting with their demand to “do it our way or else.” He is exactly right when he states, “Abortions should not be a defining issue for the Republican Party.” It should not be a political issue at all.
I would think we might learn from the Republican Platform charade and realize the cost in voter support outweighed any gain because of that single issue.
