COSTA MESA — A Bank of America was robbed of $6,000 Wednesday by a man wearing a fisherman’s hat and carrying a brown briefcase, police said.
The man entered the bank on Harbor Boulevard at 9:07 a.m. and gave a teller a leather checkbook containing a note that stated: “Give me all your money or I will kill you,” said Costa Mesa Police Community Officer Allen Rieckhoff.
The teller handed over the money and the man walked out of the bank and north on Harbor. Police discovered a tracking device that had been placed with the money a few blocks away. It had apparently been removed by the robber, Rieckhoff said.
