COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Kansas Shuts Out Titans in Softball Tournament

Stephani Williams pitched a two-hitter as 13th-ranked Kansas beat unranked Cal State Fullerton, 3-0, in pool play of the PONY Tournament Wednesday at Cal State Fullerton.
Williams (8-1) had 15 strikeouts. Lori Richardson had a home run in the fourth inning for Kansas’ first run. The Jayhawks (8-3) added two more runs in the sixth.
Tiffany Boyd (7-6) took the loss for Fullerton (14-11).
Minnesota beat Cal Poly Pomona, 3-2, Utah beat Oregon, 4-3, and Cal State Northridge beat Ohio State, 5-1.
Play resumes in the 16-team tournament at 9 a.m. today and Fullerton plays Washington at 7 p.m.

In nonconference baseball:
Loyola Marymount 6, Chapman 5 (12 innings)--The teams were tied, 3-3, after nine innings, then each scored two in the 10th before Loyola Marymount (13-15) scored an unearned run in the 12th at Hart Park in Orange. Eric Strum (0-1) took the loss in relief.
Chris Briones had two hits and two RBIs and Kevin Cook had a home run for Chapman (15-15). It was Cook’s fourth home run of the season, and second in two games. Mike Peters had a two-run double and a sacrifice fly for Loyola Marymount.
